2024 Student Art Show Results

The Mountain Artists believe in promoting, encouraging, and supporting the visual arts in our community. In line with our goals, we have been sponsoring the Teller County Student Art Show for many years. We are proud to have done it again in 2024. The show is open to all middle school, high school, private schools and home schooled students in all of Teller County. Ribbons, Certificates, and Cash awards in excess of $1400 were awarded to students that participated in 2024.

The categories include: Oils, Acrylic, Watercolor, Drawing, Mixed Media, Digital Design, 3-D and new for 2024 - Photography.

Our judge Chris Alvarez has had art as his calling from a young age growing up in New Mexico. He didn’t take a direct route to making it his full time vocation, but now he has the Alvarez Gallery and Art School in downtown Colorado Springs where he teaches drawing and painting to adults and children. He graduated with distinction from UCCS in 2001 with a BA in Fine Art. His work has won several awards and he was featured in the October/November issue of Southwest Art Magazine as Artists to Watch. His website is www.alvarezschool.com.

We wish to thank all of the Art Teachers: Lindsay Orellana, Carolyn Pulley, Jennifer Stevenson, Amanda Wahl, Markyda VenRooy and Melanie Havnaer for investing in the futures of their students by sharing their art knowledge and talents. Art education is so important in our schools.

Many thanks go to all the parents supporting their students in pursuing the arts. We also thank the Art Students for all of their hard work and dedication that they contributed to the art culture in our community.
