Over the years I have always dabbled in making things out of wood. For the past several years I have crafted candle holders, table and floor lamps from Vintage Colorado ranch posts. This has been a real challenge due to the pitch content of the wood. Makes it very hard to sand and work with. Recently I have been inlaying natural turquoise images in wooden stump tables, candle holders, and on aspen wood plaques. The inlays consist of Elk, Bear, Wolves, Bear Paws, Buffalo, Moose, Dogs, Hikers, Bikers, Fly Fisherman, etc. It is always a joy to create something new. Whenever I am out in the countryside the eye is always looking for a unique piece of wood with character, that something can be created from. The piece of wood may sit around for a few months before I decide what it’ll be. My art is on display for purchase at Mountain Naturals, Woodland Park, CO.
Nature’s Beauty is awe inspiring and frequently a challenge to capture. There is a certain chemistry that activates within your soul when the photographic eye depicts that perfect setting. I truly love bringing joy and happiness to those who wish to view my array of photographic art. Growing up in the dairy land of Wisconsin I gained great appreciation for nature and the great outdoors. I spent a great share of my life as a Radiologic Technologist. Taking black & white pictures of the human body, in the form of x-rays.
After retiring I shifted my focus to digital photography. Instead of viewing things on the inside I now view the outside and no better place to do that then Colorado. My photos may be viewed and purchased at: www.carol-milisen.pixels.com
